Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Committed to the Future

Placentia is a community committed to the future! We believe that through the use of reducing, reusing, and recycling, we can all protect our environment and keep our waste management system affordable and effective.

Waste reduction/prevention is the preferred approach to waste management. Waste has associated management costs; therefore, reducing waste will reduce total costs. View tips on reducing the amount of waste you produce.

Reusing items is a simple idea: "One person's trash is another person's treasure." There are several ways to reuse items including:

  • Donating gently used items to organizations who can use them
  • Organizing a toy or book exchange with friends
  • Reusing grocery bags rather than tossing / recycling them
  • Utilizing a professional materials exchange

Reusing items is a simple act that saves money, energy, resources, and landfill space. View more information about reusing items.

Recycling is the practice of recovering used materials from the waste stream and incorporating those materials into the manufacturing process. View more information about recycling.
