TERMS EXPIRING ON COMMISSIONS AND ONE COMMITTEE

The City of Placentia has several terms of office on City Commissions and one Committee which will expire on July 1, 2008. City Council welcomes interested residents wishing to serve on these commissions to submit an application:
Planning Commission – Two Terms Expiring July 1, 2008
Recreation & Parks Commission – One Term Expiring July 1, 2008
Cultural Arts Commission – Two Terms Expiring July 1, 2008
Traffic Safety Commission – One Term Expiring July 1, 2008
Financial Audit Oversight Committee – Two Terms Expiring July 1, 2008
Interested residents should be aware that in accordance with the Political Reform Act of 1974, the City has adopted a Conflict of Interest Code requiring the disclosure of certain personal financial interests by Commissioners and Committee members upon assumption of office and annually thereafter. These statements are public records.
Residents interested in serving on any of the Commissions or the Committee may obtain an application form from the City Clerk’s Office at Placentia City Hall, 401 E. Chapman Avenue, Placentia. Information may be obtained by calling 993-8231.
The deadline for filing applications will be 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008. It is anticipated that Council will conduct brief interviews and make appointments at the June 17, 2007, Council meeting.

CAL-TRANS AUDIT UPDATE

As previously reported the City has been dealing with a disallowance from Cal-Trans on $36.2 million in grant funding to pay for the Orangethorpe Corridor railroad related projects. On Monday April 14, 2008 Finance Director Terrence Beaman met with Cal-Trans officials in Sacramento in regards to the current on-going Cal-Trans audit of the City of Placentia. Mr. Beaman informed the City Council on April 15, 2008 that the Finance Department has been able to account for the entire $8.2 million in federal money and 94% of State funds, or $26 million. Approximately 96% of the entire $36.2 million has been reconciled to our accounting system. The remaining 4% are State funded items that are less than $25,000 which consist of over a thousand transactions. City Staff feel confident that should Cal-Trans request we provide documentation at the lower amount, City Staff would, in time, be able to provide that documentation. More...

COMPOST GIVEAWAY

In appreciation of the community’s effort to recycle its yard waste, the City of Placentia and Placentia Disposal will host their annual FREE Compost Giveaway on Saturday, May 3rd, at El Dorado High School, 1651 N. Valencia Avenue. The event will run from 9:00a.m. until 11:30a.m. or until we run out, rain or shine! Limit of sixty(60) gallons per resident. Please bring your own container. More...
