Director of Fire Services
The Director of the Orange County Fire Authority provides fire services under a joint powers agreement (JPA) to the City of Placentia. The Fire Authority is funded primarily from cash contracts and property tax revenues. Fire services are provided at two fire stations in Placentia. Fire Station 34 is located at 1530 North Valencia; Fire Station 35 is located at 120 South Bradford. Battalion 2 provides fire-fighting services at these locations. Contract fire services include community safety services, finance, administration, and human resources services, technical services, and fire operations.
Community Safety Services
The Community Safety Department coordinates fire prevention, public education and information, building code enforcement, training in modern fire prevention methods, and arson investigations. Those fire authority personnel in Placentia receive these support services from the Orange County Fire Authority in Orange. These same services are provided to all cities in the JPA as well as the unincorporated areas of the County.
Finance, Administration, & Human Resources Services
The Finance, Administration, & Human Resources Department provides personnel recruitment services, maintains centralized accounting records, and also provides management support. This department also conducts periodic advisory meetings with the City Managers of the nineteen partner cities. In addition, risk management, worker’s compensation, contract and lease monitoring, and strategic planning services are under this department’s jurisdiction. The two fire stations in Placentia receive administrative services from the headquarters of the Orange County Fire Authority, located in the City of Orange. These services are also provided to all contract cities as well as the unincorporated areas of the County.
Technical Services
This department provides necessary support for the operation of all fire services. This support includes; legislative advocacy, communications services, property management, automotive service, materials and supplies, and purchasing.
Fire Operation
The Operations Department is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of fire and rescue services to the citizens protected by the Orange County Fire Authority. Heavy equipment and hand crew coordination are also provided. Battalion 2, which oversees the two fire stations in Placentia, is under the supervision of Division 1 of the Orange County Fire Authority. The goal of fire operations is to reduce the loss of life and property in case of a fire or other natural or man-made disaster. Coordination is also provided with local law enforcement agencies as necessary.
Clerk of the Authority
The Clerk’s office is responsible for scheduling all Board of Directors and Standing Committee meetings, distributing materials for those meetings pursuant to the Brown Act, preparing General Orders and Standard Operating Procedures, and performing records management functions.
