Water Conservation Ordinances
Water Use Reductions
Ripples in water
The governor of California proclaimed a state-wide drought and issued a state of emergency to address the water shortage in California. He also requested all users to reduce water consumption by 20%.

The Municipal Water District has also implemented a 15% water supply reduction in Orange County.

Prevent the Waste of Water
In response to the reduction of the county water supply, the water service providers in Placentia, the Yorba Linda Water District, and Golden State Water Company implemented new water conservation ordinances.

These ordinances went into effect on July 1, 2009, with the primary goals of:
  • Preventing the waste of water
  • Protecting the health and safety of water users
