“The City has been working with OCTA on the construction of a Metrolink Station and Parking Structure to serve the City and surrounding area for several years now,” said City Administrator Damien Arrula. “We are particularly thankful to CEO Darrell Johnson and his OCTA team for their partnership and support in developing a cohesive plan together to bring this project to fruition. We are excited for the prospect of having the station serve as the catalyst for making Old Town Placentia a destination while serving regional transportation needs in the North Orange County area” said City Administrator Arrula.
The Cooperative Agreement was presented at the July 12th Placentia City Council Meeting for final approval. The Agreement was unanimously approved by the City Council.
Once constructed, this will be the 13th station serving the 91 line, which will run from Los Angeles Union Station to downtown Riverside. The Placentia Metrolink station will be the closest station in proximity to Cal State Fullerton and will provide passengers with an alternative to the Fullerton Metrolink station.
The total cost of the Project is $35 million, of which the City will contribute $5.4 million.
