Fentanyl Awareness Information and Reduction

FAIR Logo (black background)The City, in partnership with the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District and the Placentia Police Department, created the Fentanyl Awareness Information and Reduction (F.A.I.R.) initiative to raise awareness about opioid misuse and the rise of fentanyl deaths.

This partnership aims to educate parents/guardians and students about the dangers of fentanyl, encourage prevention, and enhance the safety and well-being of our community. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, is causing a rising epidemic across the United States, and Placentia is not immune to this crisis. This drug is responsible for a significant number of overdose deaths, and it is often found in illicit drugs, making it a particularly dangerous threat.

The Police Department recently presented at Placentia High Schools to educate students on the dangers of drug use and the fatal effects of fentanyl. As part two of this initiative, the Police Department will share a similar presentation for parents/guardians, staff, and community members. They also held community meetings both in English and in Spanish, where they shared similar information with parents and guardians.

The English presentation can be viewed here.

Through this initiative, the City and School District also recently released a PSA video highlighting our collective commitment to combatting the fentanyl crisis, providing essential education, and engaging our community to ensure that every child can thrive unhindered by the dangers of this drug.
