The City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 5th at 5:00 pm in the Council Chambers regarding voting district boundaries. Every ten years, districts must be redrawn so that each district is substantially equal in population. This process, called redistricting, is important in ensuring that each city council member represents about the same number of constituents. In Placentia, the City Council is responsible for drawing council districts. Redistricting is done using U.S. Census data, which is scheduled to be publicly released around September 30, 2021. For the City of Placentia, the redistricting process must be completed by April 18, 2022. The City Council will hold a series of four (4) public hearings to receive public comments and input.
All interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing and express opinions or submit information. Please click here or call the City Clerk’s Office at (714) 993-8231 for more information.
