Update December 10 at 5:00 pm:
Waste collection remains disrupted by a work stoppage amid labor contract talks at service provider Republic Services.
There has been no residential collection in our city today, Friday, Dec. 10.
Placentia is seeing limited service where public health concerns are highest, including at healthcare and schools.
The City is not involved in talks between Republic and its workers. But we are stressing our city's need to see swift resolution and contingency service.
THURSDAY, FRIDAY COLLECTION CUSTOMERS
For anyone with missed Thursday and Friday pickups, we recommend taking up your bins until your next regularly scheduled collection day.
We do not expect any residential collection on Saturday.
Use trash bags as needed and store them with your bins. Consider double bagging and make sure to tie close bags.
Once partial or full residential service resumes, bags will be collected along with bin waste.
With no regularly scheduled Saturday and Sunday residential service, our next major update will be Monday morning, barring any weekend developments.
MONDAY COLLECTION CUSTOMERS
For those with Monday scheduled pickups, you can put your bins at the curb Sunday night or Monday morning for possible service.
In the event of no Monday service, we recommend taking up your bins Monday evening, utilizing bags, and awaiting updates ahead of your next scheduled pickup day.
Apartment and townhome community residents should bag waste and place it in community bins. If full, please check with your property manager for guidance.
Street sweeping in Placentia is not impacted and continues as scheduled.
While we are tracking this situation closely, we don’t know when partial or full service will resume.
Minimizing household waste is always a good idea and can be helpful as we work through this.
* Avoid using disposable plates, cups, and silverware
* Use refillable water bottles
* Use cloths instead of paper towels
* Reuse delivery boxes for wrapping Christmas gifts
* Put off major yard work
* Break down large boxes and bags with other paper goods
