The City of Placentia is advancing plans to revitalize the Specific Plan No. 5 (SP-5) corridor, a 19-acre area in southwest Placentia bordered by Orangethorpe Avenue, Placentia Avenue, Crowther Avenue, and SR-57. Historically home to hospitality, business parks, and auto-related uses, the corridor is being reimagined as a vibrant, mixed-use district that blends economic growth with community character.
The SP-5 Corridor Plan envisions integrated residential, commercial, and hospitality development, enhanced walkability, public art, and green spaces. The effort aligns with nearby initiatives such as Old Town Revitalization and transit-oriented development opportunities tied to Metrolink expansion.
Community input is a key part of the process. The City will host a public meeting on Thursday, March 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (presentation at 6:00 p.m.) at the Whitten Community Center, 900 S. Melrose Street. Attendees can learn about proposed land use concepts, design priorities, and economic strategies, and provide feedback to help shape the plan.
The project is expected to support long-term economic vitality by attracting new industries and investment while funding infrastructure improvements.
