Administrative Citation

Municipal Code Violations

The City of Placentia Municipal Code Sections 1.08.060 provides for the issuance of administrative citations for Municipal Code Violations. There are three levels of fines that can be issued for a violation. The fines are:

  • $100 for the first citation
  • $200 for the second citation
  • $500 for the third and subsequent citations

These fines are cumulative, and citations may be issued each day the violation exists. A warning (if issued) does not incur a fine and therefore cannot be appealed.

Payment

Payment must be made in full within 30 calendar days of the issuance of the citation. Payment may be in the form of a cashier's check, money order, or personal check. Do not send cash. Checks should be made out to the City of Placentia. Please indicate the citation number on your check. Payment may also be made online by credit card, or by calling (800) 969-6158.

Consequences of Failure to Pay the Fine

If payment is not received within 30 calendar days of the issuance of the citation, an additional late fee of 50% of the total civil fine owed will be added to the amount. Until all civil fines and penalties have been paid in full, interest shall accrue at the rate of 1% per month, compounded monthly.

Right of Appeal

Any recipient of an administrative citation may contest the violation(s) of the Placentia Municipal Code by filing an Appeal Hearing Form (PDF). The total amount of the fine, along with the completed appeal hearing form, must be received within 15 calendar days of the issuance of the citation. To appeal this citation, file an appeal hearing form, include the total amount of the fine, and mail to:
