City Streetlights

There are over 3,600 streetlights along Placentia public streets. The primary purpose of street lighting is to produce safe and comfortable vision during the night on public streets and sidewalks. The benefits of such lighting include reduction of accidents, facilitation of traffic flow, promotion of nighttime operation of businesses and industries, enhanced neighborhoods and increased personal safety and security for the public.

Southern California Edison owns and maintains approximately 3,459 streetlights throughout the City, while the City owns the remaining lights. These are usually identified as streetlights that are located on sidewalks and/or streetlights located in residential neighborhoods. If you notice a SCE streetlight that is broken, dark, or cycling on and off, you can call Southern California Edison at 1-800-611-1911 for repairs or online by clicking hereWhen reporting a street light problem to SCE you must have a specific address and a pole number for the streetlight that is out.

Streetlights that are safety lights mounted above the traffic signal lights are owned and maintained by the City of Placentia.  If you notice a City-owned streetlight that is broken, dark, or cycling on and off, you can contact the Public Works Department at (714) 993-8148 or fill out a service request by clicking here

Streetlights on Private Streets

If you live in a homeowner’s association (HOA) area, the streetlights are probably maintained by Edison.  You can call Southern California Edison (1-800-611-1911) or your Homeowner's Association for repairs.
